Purposes

The Manager of Advising & Tutoring is an integral part of the Student Development Department at LDS Business College.  The incumbent will manage the advising & tutoring programs, including the oversight of staff, technology and other resources.  This is a full-time, beneftied position reporting to the Director of Student Development.  

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Connect, Zoom, and Excel
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Master's degree in education, leadership, counseling, or related field
  • Strong academic background in mathematics and/or English is highly desirable
  • Minimum of three years' worth of managerial experience, including program management and/or development
  • Strong customer service orientation, and excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to follow policy and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prepare reports, spreadsheets and other correspondence with a high level of professionalism
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate employees toward a common goal
  • Ability to learn quickly and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Previous experience in providing academic services is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of Gospel principles and how they can be applied to students in an academic and student development setting
  • Effective leadership, management and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse cultural differences and their potential impact on academic development

Responsibilities

  1. Recruits, hires, manages and provides ongoing development and support to tutors and advisers, and ensures programatic success.
  2. Oversees and manages tutoring centers, including program development and management of evening and/or weekend shifts; successfully addresses the tutoring and advising needs of a diverse student community, including students from a broad range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds; develops new programming, as needed, to refine and enhance the student experience.
  3. Collects and compiles service data to inform and improve business practices; utilizes role assessment, outcomes, and applications of technology and data in decision-making as part of the overall student experience.
  4. Contributes to the coordination of multiple offices working toward achieving consistent and accurate policies and procedures in the improvement of the student experience.
  5. Represents the Student Development Department in various campus committees, as assigned.

Worthiness Qualification

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
