Purposes

The Manager of Acquisitions & Retail oversees the efficient and effective execution of the acquisition and retail functions within the Learning Resources Department.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Demonstrated professional experience in retail, sales, marketing, and contract negotiations
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and other MS Office Suite applications
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new information systems
  • Able to independently identify, diagnose, and resolve complex issues
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Facilitate content management acquisitions and negotiate purchases, licensing, and contracts to provide access to course materials to faculty and students.
  2. Monitor curriculum and support faculty in the selection of course content in an effort to enhance student learning.
  3. Manage all retail operations including, but not limited to, retail strategy, revenue stream, business model, and the costs and risks involved in daily operations in order to support financial planning.  Review, manage, and interpret key financial ratios and dashboard measures.
  4. Manage labor needs including the hiring, training, and scheduling of employees to provide excellent customer service.
  5. Manage all retail marketing and merchandising efforts as well as all general merchandise purchasing to provide other goods and services that support a college educational experience.
  6. Coordinate with business faculty to provide student internships and class projects in the bookstore.
  7. Maintain relationships with other college bookstore managers and associations to stay current on bookstore trends and federal regulations regarding course material.

 

Worthiness Qualification

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
